Treehouse Store Volunteering

Description

Volunteers are a critical part of how Treehouse supports youth in foster care. We welcome groups, individuals and families to join us.

Treehouse’s commitment to diversity and equity is central to our work with youth in foster care, and our volunteers are our partners in this work. Treehouse serves youth and caregivers of many races and ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities and religious beliefs. We seek volunteers who reflect that diversity. We know that everyone is at a different place in their learning about dismantling racism and other forms of oppression, but our expectation is that Treehouse volunteers bring a personal commitment to continued learning and action on these fronts.

We have several Treehouse Store shifts on our calendar that are open to one-time volunteers. These shifts are labeled “Holiday Helper,” “Individuals, Families, and Friends” or “Treehouse Admin Support” on our calendar here: Treehouse Store Support Shifts

These shifts involve sorting and processing incoming donations, putting tags on clothing, and preparing the Store for shopping days.

Age requirement:  All youth under age 16 must be accompanied by adult chaperones, with a 1:1 ratio of child to adult.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
