Love for Our Elders
Description
Recipients love when the letters are personal. We encourage you to make your letters colorful and fun. You can include drawings (must be accompanied with at least 2-3 sentences), photos, and inexpensive, non-food gifts. (If you’d like to support an elder with a monetary gift, consider donating to our work so we can bring letters of love to one more elder).
Write legibly and in large print, and please, no glitter. The words in your letter will shine and shimmer on their own! Please keep in mind that your letter should resonate with anyone. Bundle facilitators will decide whether a letter with faith-based content will remain in the bundle. Last, avoid asking questions that require a response like “What is your favorite…”. This is a one-way letter exchange with no expectation that the elder writes back. Only send a follow-up letter if you have received a response. https://loveforourelders.org/about

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!
Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
