Title
Description
When
Shifts:
February 27: 3 PM to 6 PM
February 28: 10 AM to 3 PM
One of our own JHS seniors is a Life Scout from Toop 91 BSA and is currently working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. As part of this process, he is coordinating & leading a community service project: a trail restoration project to improve and preserve a local trail.
Goals:
Install mile markers along the trail
Clear sidewalk and tree debris
Install a 3D monument highlighting the trail and its significance
Volunteers will assist with trail cleanup, marker installation, and other restoration tasks. Some tools involved in the project include screwdrivers, hammers, and pressure washers.
To ensure safety:
5-10 minute safety briefing will be conducted at the beginning of both workdays
Skilled adults will provide on-site training and supervision before any tool use
An adult supervisor will be present at each worksite
If requested, NHS volunteers can be restricted from using certain tools and those tasks will be reassigned to other qualified volunteers
Linked Safety Waiver must be completed prior to the event

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
