Salmon Habitat Restoration Event
Title
Description
When
Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail to restore salmon habitat.
We will spend the event time digging up the roots of invasive species growing on the riverbank, and then planting native trees and shrubs that will grow into healthy habitat in the spaces we clear. We will add blue grow-tubes to all plants to protect them from deer grazing and add mulch rings to insulate their roots.
Upon signing up you will receive a confirmation email. On February 25th, the Wednesday before the event, Molly, the Mid Sound Fisheries staff member leading your event, will send a reminder email with event logistics on site access, what to pack, and all other necessary information.
For participants under 18: if you plan to volunteer without your parent/ guardian and this is your first time volunteering with Mid Sound Fisheries, you need to print and have your parent sign 2 waivers.
Youth waivers are available on Mid Sound's website here:

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
