Join Healthy Forest Project staff and other volunteers to clear blackberries off the Steamshovel Trail at Lord Hill. Blackberry bushes have created large, dense thickets that displace the native forest plants and the animals that rely on them. Clearing blackberry and other weeds is the first step to creating a healthier forest for all to enjoy at Lord Hill. You can also take a look at the progress of the meadow seeding and planting projects started in November 2024.
Please wear long sleeves and long pants that you don't mind getting dirty, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring a full water bottle and a snack. Hand tools and gloves will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
This event will be cancelled IF:
the Snohomish River is at action level stage or above
the area is to experience wind gusts over 30 mph
the ground is frozen
If the event is cancelled, you will receive an email in advance.
Please meet in the south parking lot at the end of Old Tester Rd. Look for the person in a yellow vest.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
