Event Type:

Knitting/Crocheting to Keep Families Warm this Winter

Description

Knit-It-Alls Volunteers knit and crochet throughout the year to create warm winter clothing for low-income families and/or people experiencing homelessness in Seattle/King County. Solid Ground then distributes the items in the winter to people we serve as well as other nonprofits to pass out to their participants. Groups are welcome!

Volunteers will knit, crochet, or sew a range of warm items like hats, scarves, mittens, as well as baby and children’s clothing. Count, tag, and sort donations: If interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteers@solid-ground.org.

Hours vary based on your schedule. We can also coordinate one-time sorting opportunities for individuals or groups, both in person and remotely. Volunteers can sign up by filling out an online form. Volunteers fill out a KIA Donation Report and send in with each batch of donations.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
