Volunteer Buddy Weekend Camps Jill's House Puget Sound

Description

Weekend Adventures are exciting weekends away at camp for kids (ages 6 to 17) with intellectual disabilities. As a volunteer, you will be a kid’s assigned "buddy" for a weekend of fun and engaging activities! There are always staff around who are trained to handle any medical or behavioral changes, so you and your team can simply focus on having fun with your campers as they enjoy activities such as hiking, rope swings, hayrides, s’mores, campfires, and so much more! You will be at camp from Friday-Sunday sleeping in a separate volunteer cabin.

And while you and your buddy are having an awesome weekend, their families are given critical time to rest and recharge. This is truly a gift you are giving to the parents and will empower them in their lives and relationships.

We welcome groups or individuals, ages 16 and older and provide all the training you’ll need! Our staff are with you every step of the way, so no special needs experience is required. All you need is a heart to serve these wonderful kids and show the love of Christ!

Put simply-we focus on the details so that you can focus on the campers!

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
