Children’s Garden Work Parties

Description

DESCRIPTION:
The Children’s Learning Garden at the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford is maintained by our Youth and Families and Natural Yard Care programs.

During our Monday shifts led by Youth and Families staff, volunteers will help maintain annual garden beds planted by youth in our programs. You can expect to help with planting, weeding, digging, watering, harvesting, garden bed preparation and creation, and trellis building! All members of the community, as well as youth and families, are welcome. All ages and skill levels welcome: learn by doing! If you would like to volunteer in the Children’s Garden annual bed area but don’t see a shift that works for you, please email Benay at benayoconnell@tilthalliance.org. Available on weekdays.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
