I've filled out the form and I still haven't heard back from a tutor. When will I hear back?If you still haven't heard back from a JHS tutor, we're still looking for someone who matches your availability! We have a large influx in students requesting tutors from elementary, middle, and high schools across the district and are checking to pair tutors and students each day.
-
My student's availability changed. Can I still get a tutor?Yes! If your availability changes at all and you still haven't been paired, please fill out the tutor request form again.
-
How will students and tutors meet?Students and tutors can meet in-person, virtually over video calling platforms such as Zoom, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams, etc., or a hybrid of both! It will depend on what your student is comfortable with.
-
Do you offer tutoring in any other subjects that aren't listed?Unfortunately, we have a limited capacity of tutors at this time and can only offer tutoring in the subjects listed in the form.
-
How long will student and tutors meet? Each individual student/tutor pair will discuss how long and when they would like to meet for tutoring, deciding what works best for them.

I've filled out the form but still haven't heard back from JHS Honor Society. What does that mean?If you haven't heard back from us, that just means we haven't found a student who matches your tutoring availability yet! We check the forms each day for student and tutor pairings and are all collectively working to match and email the tutors as quickly as possible.

What are my next steps? After receiving an email from us, please respond to confirm whether or not the pair works for you! You can then begin to reach out to the parent or student that you have been matched to and arrange how and when you will meet. Remember to keep track of your tutoring hours so they will count towards your hour logs!
-
I'm not in JHS National Honor Society, but can I still participate as a tutor? If you are in MCYAB, Key Club, NHS, Link Crew or any other volunteer organization (indicate in the form), you can participate as a tutor! Remember to keep track of your tutoring hours!

Can I tutor more than one student?Yes! If you are interested in tutoring more than one student, let us know by emailing us at jhshonorsociety@gmail.com or by indicating so in the additional comments on your sign up form. We are a bit short-staffed on tutors, so we absolutely appreciate your initiative to tutor more students. Additionally, we have recently launched a new group tutoring program! If you're interested in tutoring 2-5 students who are looking to learn the same subject(s), please fill out our tutor sign up form or email us. And for our NHS members — leading group tutoring will satisfy your leadership point requirement this semester :)
