Senior Citizens Card Writing Volunteer

Description

Event Person: Aditi Dewangan Email address: seniorcarefirstfoundation@gmail.com Event Description: 1) Making Cards (Card Making Resources) You have lots of creative freedom in creating your cards for senior citizens. There are a couple requirements that we look for in each card.     a) There must be a message     b) There must be some sort of artwork     c) You must sign off with YOUR name or “SCF Volunteer” If you need resources to make your cards, email me and we’ll go from there.  2) What should I write on the card? There are several examples online to help you get started, but the point is to be positive and cheerful. I will be reading over your cards before I send them out to the senior centers so make sure they are appropriate and something the seniors would enjoy reading. Refrain from using ChatGPT (please!). Take inspiration from here: https://bornindefiance.com/fight-loneliness-by-writing-cards-to-seniors/  3) Due Dates and how to mail it There is no due date! Please keep me updated on your progress. I will be nagging you every so often, though. Try to have them completed by December 1st (not a firm deadline). Email me as soon as you feel you are ready to have them sent to seniors, and I will get you the instructions for getting your cards verified!  4) DON'T FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES SCF was featured in an article by 425 magazine and is currently being interviewed for the Seattle Times and Northwest Asian Weekly. If you would like to be in a picture or have your effort recognized, take pictures! It can be of you making cards at home or writing cards with your friends at a park. Email them to me and I will save them for any press I encounter for SCF.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please DO NOT sign up to volunteer at any in-person events if you are sick or believe that you have any symptoms of COVID-19. We would never want to put our members at risk in any way, and there are plenty of virtual or at-home ways to earn hours this semester. If you choose to volunteer in-person, make sure you follow all state and county coronavirus guidelines and stay safe when volunteering!

Additionally, please do NOT skip class to attend events. If an event takes place during school hours, only volunteer if you're in Running Start/have an alternative schedule that doesn't cause you to skip class!
